With more than thirty years of experience in healthcare leadership, I am Dr. Natasha Phillips – a renowned nurse leader deeply committed to upholding nursing excellence and propelling healthcare forward using digital technologies and data science. Throughout my career, I’ve successfully led a multitude of local and national change initiatives, with a strong focus on nurturing nurse leaders and fostering transformative cultures.

As both an Organisational Development Practitioner and Clinical Academic, I bring together academic rigour, critical thinking, and a unique talent for engaging others in the successful execution of change endeavours. I take immense pride in accomplishments such as pioneering the implementation of the very first real-time nursing outcomes dashboard, establishing a nationally acclaimed ward accreditation program supported by a robust data model, and seamlessly introducing an enterprise-wide Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
EXPERTISE
My expertise extends to policy-making, where I’ve played a pivotal role in shaping and developing national strategies and frameworks, including the National Digital Clinical Safety Strategy and the What Good Looks Like for Nursing initiative.
My policy influence transcends borders, as demonstrated by my association with the International Council of Nursing (ICN) Global Nurse Leadership Institute. Through partnerships with the ICN and the World Health Organisation, I actively contribute to shaping international digital healthcare strategies.
Associations and PArtnerships
My passion for amplifying the role of nurses in both policy and practice is the driving force behind my efforts. During my tenure as CNIO England, I cultivated a vibrant community of over 1,000 digital nurse and midwife change agents, resulting in the appointment of Chief Nursing Information Officers in 83% of provider organisations.
In addition to my leadership roles, I maintain an active presence in the field through my research and publications. You can find my work in esteemed academic journals and various media platforms.
Currently, I am in the process of authoring the book “Harnessing Digital Technology & Data Science for Nursing Practice,” set to be published in October 2023.
